We are thrilled to announce that we have a new communications volunteer! Thank you Annu Vanga for helping us stay organized by sending these weekly emails. If you are organizing an event or having any school-related information (no personal or promotional materials please) to pass along, please send your information to communications@trafalgarpac.ca to have in included in the upcoming Sunday blast.

Coming up this week:
Pink shirt day is this Wednesday! February 27th is Anti-bullying Pink Shirt Day, and once again Trafalgar will be participating in activities around this important topic. Student Council will be hosting Trafalgar Circles that day at 1:00 pm. The collaborative activity will be around our celebrated virtue this month, which is the virtue of Unity. Student Council invites all students, staff and parents to dress in pink in honour of Anti- bullying. Hope to see you all in pink on Wednesday!

The Clothing drive fundraiser for Quebec has been such a success that they have extended collection until March 1st. Drop your bags in the main hall.

February PAC meeting minutes– the minutes of the meeting can be viewed here (minutes here). Please read carefully. New Outdoor education and fundraising guidelines were introduced that are important for all parents to read. Those guidelines were sent home in the school newsletter on Friday and will also be posted on our website. We also discussed making our playground more accessible for children with limited physical abilities and you will be hearing much more about that in the weeks to come as the project progresses. Up-to-date financials are posted on our website now.

Coming up soon:
Community Mural Paint Night with Paintillio March 5 from 3-7 PM- Our school-wide mural project is coming along nicely! Artists Jess and Lyssa of Paintillio have been working with all of our students on the final stage of the mural landscape and have finished the collage stage. Their collage has been turned into a large digital paint-by-number mural and is being painted in smaller sections by all the students this month. At the end of the month, the partially-painted mural will be installed on the inside wall near the main entrance! We can’t wait to see you and your kids at our Community Paint Night to help finish painting this 35-foot mural, which will be an amazing legacy for our school. Come drop in during these hours to paint a section of the mural, learn more about Paintillio and see a photo slideshow documenting all the fascinating stages of this student-led collaborative art project. More information here.

Mural Unveiling Ceremony and Trafalgar HOWL School Song Performance March 7 at 2 PM- Parents are invited to join our school’s official mural unveiling ceremony at our next school assembly. We’ll be showing a student-produced slideshow highlighting this unique art project. Artists Jess and Lyssa from Paintillio along with some students will share their reflections on the process. Come see JUNO-nominated children’s musician Will Stroet of Will’s Jams who will lead our students, teachers (and you all!) in singing our new school song, Trafalgar HOWL, collaboratively written by Will and four home rooms- Mme. Anne-Marie, Mme. Hoppen, Mrs. Goodison, and Mr. Fleming’s class.

Save the date! Our School Counsellor, Dr. Garzitto will be presenting the workshop ‘How To Talk To Your Child’s Teacher So They Will Listen and How to Listen to Your Children So They Will Talk. Practical Strategies to Support Family and School Communication at our next PAC Meeting on Tuesday, March 12 at 7:00 pm. She will also present the same workshop at the Mandarin PAC meeting on Thursday, April 4th at 9:15 am in room 112. Please join us if you can!
