Trafalgar Beginning Band accepting New Members in September

The Trafalgar School Band is an extracurricular music program funded by participating students and their families. Students who are in Grade 5-7 are eligible to play in the band. Participation in a school band is rewarding educationally and socially. Our goal is to make it both fun and productive for the band students. No previous musical experience is required, although if the students already know how to read music, that is a bonus. Our band teachers, Erin Marks and Ellen Marple are both professional musicians and music educators who love sharing music with people of all ages.

The senior band meets every Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 to 8:45 am and the beginning band meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 to 8:45 am during the school year. Band students get to choose from a wide variety of woodwind and bass instruments such as flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, saxophone, oboe, French horn and tuba. The bands will perform in school concerts and music festivals (such as the Langley KPU International Music Festival.)

We will be having a band student/parent interview during 7:50-8:50 am and 3:00-4:30 pm on June 20th (Thursday). If your child will be in Gr. 5-7 and is interested in playing in the beginning band this September, you can sign up for an interview slot at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0a4ba9a92ba7fc1-201920.

Our senior band will perform at a school assembly @ 9:00 am on June 17th (Monday). There will be an instrument demo and try-out for any students after the performance. There will also be a year-end fundraising concert @ 7:00 pm on June 19th (Wednesday). We welcome any interested students and parents to attend these 2 events.
