As always, there’s lots going on!
Volunteers desperately needed for the Scholastic fair and Monster’s Ball! These events cannot happen without more volunteers. They are very short commitments and we would love some new volunteers to join us. So far, those organizing and signed up to volunteer also run Noon hour programs, the Welcome Back social, the year end party, are on the PAC executive, do hot lunch, are class parents, organize Santa’s workshop, etc. We are tiring these people out! 😉Please, please sign up for a short shift (or two!). It’s a wonderful opportunity for people who would love to donate some time but don’t have a lot of it. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make some new friends as well as help our school community. PAC meeting this Tuesday, October 9th at 7pm in the library! Please join us to discuss and vote on the proposed PAC budget for 2018/19. There will be a class parent meeting directly after for all those parents who have kindly volunteered to be class parents for their division. Please view the draft proposed budget on our website at Trafalgarpac.ca. Note: the library budget will be discussed at the meeting. Don’t worry! We have budgeted for what Mme. Michele has asked for. 😉 Babysitting is available as always.
Mandarin PAC information session this Tuesday, October 9th at 9am in the activity room.
Direct Appeal– Thank you all so much for your generosity once again this year! We are happy to report that we came very close to reaching our goal. There are several people who have asked us to keep the donations open because they haven’t had a chance to donate yet. We are happy to continue accepting donations this week either online via Munchalunch or by cheque ion the slot outside the office. Cheques are made out to Trafalgar Elementary PAC.
X-country meet this Thursday, October 11th at Balaclava Park.
Art workshops with Paintillio start this week! All students will receive 3 workshops this year. Session 1 runs from October 10-24th. The art created in these workshops will be used to create a wall mural in the main hallway. This will be an awesome legacy for our kids!
Trafalgar Scholastic book fair and Goal setting conferences-
This year the Annual Scholastic Book Fair will be held to coincide with the Parent/ Teacher Conferences and Early dismissal (2pm) taking place on Oct 16th and 17th. We are looking for parents to help out with setting up the fair, taking cash, general supervision and clean up. There are many shifts available! Monsters Ball News – We need your help!

Tickets: Join us for some Halloween fun at the Monsters Ball Friday October 26th from 6 – 8pm. There will be food for sale, the cake raffle, haunted house, crafts, music and Halloween themed games. Tickets are $5/single and $15/family. Ticket sales will take place before and after school starting Monday October 22nd. You can also buy tickets at the door but get them early to avoid the line.
- Participate in interactive activities such as, role-playing, poetry slams, puppetry, and drama games, to encourage effective communication, collaboration, and creativity skills.
- Learn how to formulate a “big idea” and research about a topic of interest.
- Create an engaging presentation to present in front of a live audience.
- Develop experience speaking in front of others and practice downtime tools that can build resilience to overcome stage fright, speech anxiety, and to perform at their very best!
This after school program will run on Mondays from 3:15pm to 4:30pm for Grade 2 to 6. The program will run for 8 sessions from Monday October 15 until December 10.

DPAC Candidates Forum – the candidates forum for the VSB election started with a stand up question period (with the questions posed by our moderator, Tracy Sherlock) and then moved to a speed-dating style question and answer period with a couple of candidates at each table for five minutes before moving on to the next table.
