Children aren’t the only things growing at Trafalgar School! The school garden is already in full swing with stage two of the school greening project almost complete. Thanks to the financial support of the Evergreen Foundation and the Trafalgar PAC (with your donations!), our hard working volunteers and students have planted cherry trees, plum trees, raspberries, strawberries, and Saskatoon berries to create an edible orchard. We’ve also planted beautiful native shrubs and flowers to attract hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. We’ve also put in an herb garden and installed an outside classroom with 32 seats! Students have been wonderful participants and supporters, moving tons of dirt and gravel, digging holes of trees and watering, watering, watering!
If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, come have a look the next time you’re at the school.
Although all this development has been wonderful, the school greening committee really needs you’re help. We need more volunteers to help with watering, weeding, harvesting food, and helping with gardening classes and pocket markets. If you have even just a little time to spare (whether one time or over several weeks) please email the PAC and we’ll forward your email to volunteer organizer Suzanne.
