Noon Hour Programs – Enrolment Now Open
The Trafalgar PAC will be running noon hour programs (for a fee) as a pilot, beginning in late April through June 2016. While new to Trafalgar, such courses have been enriching student experiences at many VSB schools. Noon Hour Programs offer students the opportunity to explore a variety of courses, in the convenience of the school setting. For this pilot project, Trafalgar will be offering – Chess, Dance, Science Lab and Sportball. The Noon Hour Classes will run at lunchtime between 12:25 and 12:55 and are taught by experienced instructors with criminal record checks. Enrolment and payment for the Noon Hour Programs will be through the Hot Lunch System at trafalgar.hotlunches.net beginning on Monday April 11, 2016. Spaces are limited. Details: here
Camp Jubilee Grade 4 Fundraisers – Cash for Clothes and Popsicle Sales
The Grade 4 classes have organized a number of fundraisers to raise funds for Camp Jubilee.
Popsicle Sales – Have been organized for April 22nd and 29th after school. Thank you for all those who came out and bought a popsicle at our April 8th sale. Finish the week with a well-earned and refreshing treat while supporting our Grade 4’s!
Cash for Clothes – Help support the Grade 4’s while doing your Spring cleaning! Please set aside your gently used clothing and household items for donation. Bags and accompanying instructions have gone home with students. The filled bags can be dropped off at school until April 20th. Bags can be dropped off at the school’s main entrance. Extra bags are available from either the drop off spot or Mme. Grainger’s class.
Hot Lunch Cutlery
In order to reduce landfill garbage from hot lunches, the PAC has purchased compostable spoons and forks made from corn. These will be used for items like frozen yoghourt and salads. Children are being informed to dispose them into the organics green bins at the school, not the landfill garbage bins. They are made from a raw material called Polylactic Acid, which is derived from dextrose (a sugar) from the corn. They are made in the U.S., and are purchased from a local Vancouver company.
