Monthly Coffee Morning – Special Guests
Tuesday December 6th 9 AM

The fourth monthly Trafalgar coffee morning will be held on Tuesday December 6th at 9 AM in the school’s library and will be hosted by the grade 5 and 6 parents. After the coffee social, the Prince of Wales Secondary School Principal has been invited to present to parents. The presentation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 after the coffee social and will feature presentations by Prince of Wales grade 12 students. There will be a Q & A following the presentation

Festive Fundraiser Purchase Pick-Up – Wednesday December 7th and 8th

Don’t forget to come get your goodies! The festive fundraiser purchase pickup for chocolates, gift cards and poinsettias, etc. will be Wednesday December 7th at 8:30 – 9:15 a.m. and 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. You can also pick up from 8:30 – 9:15 a.m. on Thursday December 8th.

Bonus Hot Dog Day! – Wednesday December 7th

Dig out those toonies and loonies, Wednesday December 7th is a hot dog day! Dogs are $2 each, include all the usual toppings, contain no added preservatives and come in a whole wheat bun.  Also, proceeds from hot dog day go to support your PAC. What more could you ask from a hot dog? Hot Dog Days are generally every other Wednesday. Please see the events page to see and subscribe to the school’s calendar for hot dog and hot lunch days and all important school dates.
Hot Dog Day Call for Volunteers – The hot dog day team is looking for volunteers. Who doesn’t love to see smiling, young faces so very happy to see you…and their lunch? Do you have some time over the noon hour on Wednesdays? Then you are a perfect candidate to become a hot dog day volunteer. It’s easy as pie and lots of fun. Santa’s Workshop – Bring on the Merry! – Thursday December 8th

Trafalgar’s third annual Santa’s Workshop will be held on December 8th.  The workshop gives all our little elves the opportunity to purchase gifts for their loved ones for only $1 per item.  Proceeds from this event will be donated to Covenant House as well as another local charity.  The team is accepting donations for the workshop so please drop off your items in the hall along the gallery wall across from the staff room. Some popular items include books, jewellery, cufflinks, DVDs, CDs, Games, puzzles, candles, pictures, toys, ties, scarves, vases, ornaments and anything else that could be re-gifted. Gifts for Dads run out quickly so donations of men’s gifts are very much appreciated. The organizers are also accepting donations of wrapping paper, gift bags, bows and name tags as the older grades will be helping to wrap the students’ purchases. Please also remember to send the kiddos to school with pockets full of toonies and loonies to do their Christmas shopping on December 8th. This event is very popular among our generous students as they so enjoy picking out the perfect gifts for their loved ones. Bring on the Merry!

Pyjama Day – Friday December 9th

Student council has organized a Pyjama Day on Friday December 9th, so come dressed in your comfy PJ’s all day long! Our second theme day will be Crazy Hat Day on December 16th which is the last day of school before Christmas break. Students are invited to wear a silly hat, a Santa hat, or whatever noggin topper they choose on that day. Theme days are a fund and important way to create school spirit!

Hot Lunch – Friday December 9th

Put those lunch boxes away, this Friday is hot lunch! A reminder families can still order for the next and all hot lunches for the semester. Simply order by the Thursday at midnight deadline a week before any hot lunch. To browse the menu and order go to trafalgar.hotlunches.net The access code to register for the year is PAC2016HL.

After School Programming – Registration Now Open!

Make Trafalgar the center of your child’s community; sign your child up for after school activities at Trafalgar. Here are a few of the great programs going on now!
Tomorrow’s Playground Lego  Animation Course (Gr 1 – 5) has changed its time to Wednesdays from January 11 to February 8; 3:15 -4:45 PM Register at www.tomorrowsplayground.com here
Girls and boys will learn animation skills they can practice at home.  Using Lego figures, kids will learn the techniques of producing animated movies, including movement, timing and editing while collaborating with others.  Students who have taken this course previously will continue to develop their skills.
LightsUp Performance – Alice In Wonderland on Tuesday
LightsUp  Musical Theatre’s after school students will be performing Alice in Wonderland in the gym Tuesday December 6th at 3:00 PM.  All are welcome to watch our wonderful young performers!
LightsUp Musical Theatre (Gr 1-7) will be offering classes next term  on Fridays from January 13 to March 6, 3:15 to 5:15 PM.   Kids can dance, sing and act with their school friends!  Enrol now. First come first served.  www.lightsuptheatre.ca
Vancouver Chess Program Tuesdays in January 3:15 – 4:45 PM. https://www.vanchess.ca/groups
Registration is now open for this comprehensive and progressive program teaching students to play chess in the optimal manner by gradually increasing complexity. Classes will follow the six-level academic chess program of the Vancouver Chess School. Within the hour and a half, students will have the chance to play full length games.  Joe Soliven, of the Trafalgar noon hour chess programs, will be one of the instructors.
