Trafalgar’s supplementary programs and initiatives enrich students’ day-to-day school experience, but there are still several that require volunteers. If you’re interested in getting involved, and you have approximately one hour a month to help out, please consider lending a hand with one of the following:
Safe Arrival: Trafalgar’s Safe Arrival Program helps ensure that our students arrive at our school safely. Volunteers contact parents when children not reported absent or late do not arrive at school. It’s also a great way to become familiar with the school, students, and teachers. Signing up for even one shift a month would be helpful; Mon.-Fri, 9 am to approx. 10 or 10:30 am.
Cross-Country: Cross-country has started, and it’s a short season, ending with the city finals meet at Trout Lake on Oct. 21. Help is needed with coordinating an email list of cross-country runners and sending out communications about practices and meets.
Halloween Ball: This year’s Halloween Ball will be on Thursday, Oct. 30. Volunteers are needed to help with posters, selling tickets, setting up/running stations at the party, cake raffle coordination, and decorating/cleanup.
Traffic Safety: We’re in need of a volunteer traffic safety patrol, including a lead and a crew. The traffic safety patrol is out twice weekly, 8:40 am to 9 am.
Bike/Walk to School: Trafalgar’s Bike/Walk to School program requires volunteers to sign Trafalgar up for prize giveaways, hand out stickers and prizes once a month, put up posters, and send out communications.
If you can volunteer for any of the above, please email gravkin@telus.net
