Yearbook 2022/23

Yearbook Volunteers Needed

The Trafalgar yearbook is put together each year by a group of parent volunteers. Hours and hours of work go into creating it, and the end result is a pretty spectacular yearbook (if we do say so ourselves!)

If you are the parent of a primary student, we need YOU to consider stepping up and volunteering. There are lots of roles to be filled on the Yearbook Committee, so even if designing the book isn’t really your thing, you might be able to help in other ways. We need:

Photographers – any camera is fine, so long as you’re present at the event and taking photos of all the students. You will be provided with a special bulk uploading link.

o Time commitment: varies depending on events

Admin-type Stuff – there is lots to do behind the scenes. Tasks include:

o liaising with teachers to get photos from them

o keeping track of expenses and total sales (all online)

o liasing with Herff Jones (yearbook company)

o keeping track of Student and teacher purchases

o keeping track of consent forms

o Time commitment: varies depending on task, but likely 5hrs per term

Design – there’s a program we use to design the yearbook. There are lots of tutorials on how to use it, and the existing yearbook designers are staying on for another two years, but we need some new primary parents to jump on now and learn the program before our kids leave the school. If you enjoy making photo books or graphic design, this job is for you! Everything is web based – it’s like a much fancier Shutterfly with amazing tech support.

o Time commitment: considerable. You need to like working with photos and creating photobooks to take on this role. We currently have two parents doing it and are looking to bring on two primary parents.

Photo Tagging – do you like looking through photos? Do you know a lot of the kids in your child’s class? Does your kid know the names of a lot of kids? If so, we need your help identifying kids by name. This can be done at home whenever you have time to sit down with your child.

o Time commitment: 30 mins once a month

Interested in helping out? Please email trafalgaryearbookinfo@gmail.com and let us know which grade your child is in, and which job you’re interested in. If your child is in Kindergarten and you haven’t yet seen a yearbook but are interested in working with this committee, please let us know; we will happily meet you to show off the yearbook and tell you a bit more about this community building endeavor.
