Direct Appeal for the 2021/2022 Academic Year
Between now and October 17th we’re asking each family at Trafalgar Elementary to make a financial contribution of any size to help fund the PAC’s budget for a busy year. Rather than ask for a bit here and a bit there, we run a ‘direct appeal’ campaign early in the year; this allows us to approve our year’s budget in the fall and know the kind of programs and events we can plan for the students and staff. September 27th to October 3rd
BC GoByBike Week is coming up! Stay tuned for information about how biking, walking, or scootering can be a safe, healthy way for our children to get to school!
We would like to feature some students that use active transportation to get to school. This week we are featuring Seraphina (grade 2) and Kevin (grade 7) who walk to school everyday and a group of grade 6 students on their scooters almost too quick to get a photo.
If you’d like to be included, please send pictures and a little story about how you travel to school, what age you started, and any tips you have to email@example.com.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30, 2021
September 30th is a new statutory holiday this year. It is called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is a day to reflect on the impact of colonialism and genocide that resulted from the establishment of the Indian Residential school system in Canada and the deaths of countless Indigenous children.
Please mark Thursday, September 30 on your calendar as a day when school is not in session.
On September 29 – All VSB schools will participate in Orange Shirt Day in recognition of the September 30th holiday. All students and staff are invited to wear something orange that day.
After School Soccer
Registration is open now for soccer, right after school, on the Trafalgar grounds. All levels welcome. This is a great opportunity to stay active, learn ball control and play fun social distance soccer games. Expect music and a fun festive atmosphere to ignite the global passion of the beautiful game. Boys and girls aged 5 to 11 are welcomed to sign up.
Harvest Time for EarthBites
The PAC is excited to be able to bring back EarthBites, a student favourite, again this year on a cost shared basis supported through the PAC and individual student fees.
The EarthBites team and a few Trafalgar families have been working hard over the summer and into September to keep our beautiful garden growing. Classes have already begun the work in the garden, harvesting the crops they planted in the Spring.
The first ‘mini-market’ offered produce fresh from the garden to families by donation and raised $245, which will go towards the purchase of seeds and other gardening essentials. Stay tuned to our Newsletter (or ask your kids) about the next mini-market.
Trafalgar is ready to run. We offer the possibility to all students to participate in the cross-country meet at Camosun Park in the next few weeks. You will find attached a permission form to participate in the cross-country meets and all the information about...
Trafalgar Elementary School and the PAC are inviting all new Trafalgar parents/guardians to a Welcome Coffee Morning on Wednesday, September 29th. This event will take place outside the activity room (undercovered area) next to the basketball court and the school...
